Alfred Patterson: trombonist, composer;New York University, M.A. Music, Trenton State College

Some of the leaders and groups that he has recorded, toured and performed with are Muhal Richard Abrams, David Murray, Ebony Brass Quintet,Roscoe Mitchell, Oliver Lake, Craig Harris’ “God’s Trombones” and Joseph Daley. The first introduction to the NYC jazz milieu was performing with the Kenny Dorham and Joe Henderson Big Band. Since that time, some highlight performances have been with the Count Basie Orchestra,director Frank Foster; national and international tours with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, director Paul Ellington.

Additionally, he is a former member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra under Henry Lewis and he has performed with the touring American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Ballet Company and the New Jersey Opera Company. N. Y.City Broadway show orchestras include the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Dreamgirls, Dancing, LaCage. Furthermore, there have been national tours with The Pointer Sisters ”Ain’t Misbehavin” and a European tour with “Blackbirds of Broadway.” Finally, Mr. Patterson is a composer for Ebony Brass Quintet, with compositions on “Bill Phipps and Friends” and the recipient of Meet-the-Composer awards. He is a former tenured faculty at Lehman College of City University of New York.
